The Role
We are currently looking for a Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) to support licensing for our product launches across jurisdictions, particularly in Europe and the Middle East. This will be a hybrid role predominantly and candidates must be based in the Netherlands.
What you will do
Design monitoring frameworks tailored to high-volume, low-margin payment environments, balancing risk management with operational efficiency.
Supervise all aspects of the company’s compliance operations, including the design, implementation, and ongoing refinement of policies and procedures related to anti-money laundering (AML), know-your-customer (KYC) onboarding and refresh cycles, sanctions screening, transaction monitoring, suspicious activity reporting (SAR/STR filing), customer due diligence (CDD/EDD), and recordkeeping obligations.
Establish and maintain a comprehensive set of internal compliance policies, procedures, and controls that reflect evolving regulatory obligations across jurisdictions and are tailored to Plasma’s business model, product offerings, and risk profile.
Work closely with Plasma’s Head of Global Payments and General Counsel to scope, hire, and manage a small compliance team focused on day-to-day compliance operations, including onboarding, transaction monitoring, and reporting.
Who you are
7+ years of experience in compliance, legal, or risk functions within regulated financial services, fintech, or crypto companies (with an emphasis on the latter two), with at least 3–5 years in a senior leadership or designated compliance officer role
Strong understanding of the unique challenges around wallets, stablecoins, and cross-border transactions. Also deeply familiar with the traditional payments stack (EMIs, processors, acquiring banks, card schemes, etc.).
Familiarity with MIDs, BINs, descriptors, chargeback flows, and network remediation.
Experience embedding merchant compliance into payment ops, onboarding, and underwriting systems.
