The Role:
The Director of Safety & Security is the network leader responsible for enterprise-wide Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), physical security, loss prevention, hazardous materials compliance, and operational risk strategy at Cart.com.
This leader defines the long-term vision, governance framework, and risk posture of the company across fulfillment centers, corporate offices, and emerging operational verticals.
This Director will architect scalable safety systems, modernize compliance infrastructure, and embed proactive risk management into Cart.com’s operational DNA. This role serves as the company’s most senior authority on workplace safety, security, and regulatory compliance and partners closely with the Chief Logistics Officer, Legal, Human Resources, Quality, Operations, Facilities, and Executive Leadership.

What You’ll Do:
Define and execute Cart.com’s multi-year enterprise safety and security roadmap
Establish governance frameworks across EHS, security, loss prevention, and hazmat
Align safety strategy with business growth, new site launches, and new client verticals
Serve as executive advisor on operational risk and regulatory exposure
Report risk posture and performance to executive leadership
Lead Cart.com’s enterprise Safety & Security functions
Design field-level and corporate safety team structure aligned to growth plans
Establish safety leadership standards across fulfillment sites
Select and manage external security, compliance, and audit partners
Standardize safety frameworks across all fulfillment centers
Ensure OSHA, DOT, EPA, and state regulatory compliance
Drive leading-indicator performance programs that reduce incidents before they occur
Oversee enterprise incident investigation standards and systemic corrective action programs
Support greenfield launches, M&A integrations, and operational expansions
Establish enterprise security standards, shrink reduction strategy, and physical risk mitigation frameworks
Oversee crisis management, emergency preparedness, and business continuity planning
Develop investigation and escalation standards
Modernize surveillance, access control, and vulnerability assessment programs
Lead hazardous materials governance across storage, handling, and transportation
Ensure compliance with DOT hazmat regulations and OSHA HazCom standards
Partner with commercial teams to safely enable new regulated client capabilities
Embed safety accountability into operational KPIs and leadership expectations
Move culture from reactive compliance to proactive ownership
Develop training frameworks that scale across distributed teams
Champion psychological safety alongside physical safety

What You’ve Done:
7+ years of progressive leadership experience in EHS, operational safety, security, or enterprise risk
Led safety programs across multi-site logistics, fulfillment, manufacturing, or 3PL networks
Built or transformed enterprise-level safety functions
Reduced incident rates and shrink across distributed operations
Managed OSHA compliance programs and regulatory audits at scale
Oversaw hazardous materials operations and regulatory programs
Led crisis response, emergency preparedness, or enterprise risk initiatives
Managed leaders across multiple geographic regions
Nice to Haves:
CSP, ASP, CHMM, or equivalent executive safety certifications
Experience in omnichannel fulfillment, eCommerce logistics, or high-volume distribution
M&A integration or rapid multi-site expansion experience
Familiarity with enterprise safety management systems and compliance platforms
Experience presenting to executive leadership or Board-level stakeholders
