This position is open to applicants or individuals who are located in or around Groveport, OH.
The Role:
As the Senior Director of Operations, you will lead all aspects of operational excellence at Cart.com’s fulfillment centers, ensuring efficiency, safety, and scalability to meet growing business demands. Reporting to the Regional Director of Fulfillment Services, you will oversee a team of managers and supervisors, develop and implement strategic plans, and optimize processes to ensure exceptional service levels.
This role requires a balance of strategic vision, hands-on leadership, and cross-functional collaboration to drive performance and align fulfillment operations with Cart.com’s overall business objectives.
What You’ll Do:
Lead end-to-end fulfillment center operations, including receiving, inventory management, picking, packing, and shipping, ensuring operational excellence.
Develop and execute strategic plans to scale operations, improve efficiency, and support company growth.
Drive process optimization initiatives using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to eliminate waste, improve productivity, and reduce costs.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, HR, and finance, to align operations with company goals.
Manage and mentor a team of operations leaders, fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
Oversee capacity planning and resource allocation to ensure seamless operations during peak periods and demand surges.
Monitor and analyze key performance metrics, including labor productivity, order accuracy, and on-time delivery, using data to inform decisions.
Ensure compliance with all safety and regulatory standards, maintaining a safe and secure work environment for employees.
Implement and oversee the adoption of advanced technology solutions, including Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and automation tools.
Manage budgets and financial planning for fulfillment center operations, ensuring cost efficiency and profitability.
Who You Are:
You are a visionary leader with a strong ability to set strategic goals and align operational activities to achieve them.
You have deep expertise in fulfillment center operations, logistics, and supply chain management.
You excel at building and leading high-performing teams, fostering collaboration, and driving accountability.
You have strong analytical skills and can leverage data to drive decisions, monitor performance, and identify improvement opportunities.
You are well-versed in safety and compliance standards, including OSHA regulations, and have a proven track record of maintaining safe operations.
You are skilled in managing complex budgets and implementing cost-saving measures while maintaining operational quality.
You thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and are adept at managing multiple priorities.
What You’ve Done:
7+ years of experience in fulfillment operations leadership roles
3+ yrs of 3PL (third-party logistics) experience
3+ yrs Financial/Cost Management and ownership experience via budget building – $30-$75M in revenue scope
Expert level experience in scaling operations and managing large teams in high-growth environments.
Expert level experience implementing and optimizing Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and other logistics technologies.
Expert level experience driving process improvements and achieving measurable results using Lean or Six Sigma methodologies.
Nice to Haves:
Certifications in Lean Six Sigma, PMP, or related fields.
Familiarity with robotics and automation in warehouse operations.
Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field; an MBA
Physical Demands & Working Conditions:
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in an industrial environment.
Flexibility to work varying shifts and extended hours as needed.
Willingness to travel occasionally to other fulfillment centers or corporate offices.
