At Ambiq, we’re building ultra-low-power semiconductor solutions that power the next generation of IoT and edge AI devices. We’re looking for a Sr. Staff Design Verification Engineer to lead verification for complex digital and mixed-signal SoCs used in advanced, battery-powered applications. This is a high-impact role for someone who enjoys owning verification strategy, solving deep technical challenges, and working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver silicon that performs to spec.
What you’ll do
- Lead verification for complex digital and mixed-signal designs, including SoCs with multiple CPUs, DSPs, security hardware, and other logic for IoT applications
- Own DV execution across block, subsystem, and full-chip levels
- Develop detailed verification plans, define deliverables and milestones, and help drive schedules to successful completion
- Build scalable, reusable testbenches using SystemVerilog and UVM
- Write C-based libraries and tests in an SoC verification environment
- Develop robust test cases, stimulus, checkers, randomized testing, and scoreboarding to achieve strong coverage
- Automate verification environments to improve efficiency and quality
- Debug complex design and verification issues, perform root-cause analysis, and partner with design teams on fixes
- Define and track functional and code coverage to ensure thorough verification
- Proactively identify verification risks and develop mitigation strategies
- Communicate progress, issues, and results clearly to team members and leadership
- Collaborate closely with design, architecture, and software teams to validate design intent and ensure product quality
What we’re looking for
- BSEE or MSEE
- 8–12+ years of experience in block, subsystem, and full-chip verification
- Proven success delivering multiple chips to specification
- Strong hands-on experience with C-based verification in an SoC environment
- Deep expertise in SystemVerilog (UVM), Verilog, C/C++, and scripting with Python, Perl, or Makefile
- Strong understanding of complex architectures, third-party IP/VIP integration, and mixed-signal verification challenges
- Experience with low-power, battery-operated designs is highly desirable
- Ability to take ownership, operate independently, and deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced environment
Preferred experience
- ARM and/or RISC-V based designs
- AMBA protocols such as AXI/AHB, DMA, flow control, and serial interfaces
- Verification for low-power design techniques
- Exposure to edge AI inference
- Experience with technologies such as MIPI (CSI/DSI), crypto, OTP, DSP, and other low-power SoC features
