Scope
The Senior Cost Accountant is responsible for the timely and accurate reporting of inventory, related reserves, overhead, certain prepaid assets, and property and equipment in compliance with Company policies. The role is part of the Finance organization and will work closely with Operations to manage inventory balances and Sales Operations to manage financial costing. The Senior Cost Accountant will also play a key role in driving the completion of our inventory management software implementation.
Specific Responsibilities
· Directly responsible for the accurate and timely completion of inventory and property and equipment (Fixed Assets) transactions for the monthly financial close process, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and explanations of balance variances.
· Review the accounting requirements for implementing an inventory management system (Tensoft) and proactively develop and adhere to a project plan.
· Drive the adoption of inventory standard costing accounting standards and record financial adjustments in accordance with US GAAP. Develop and review standard costing for all SKUs, including overhead allocations. Analyze purchase price and other variances from standard cost.
· Lead the accurate and timely delivery of financial results with high-quality, monthly analyses and concise narratives of inventory roll forwards, significant standard/COGS variances (including underlying drivers), and communicate results to senior management, executives, and project teams.
· Forecast/ budget standard costing for changes in inputs and assumptions. Perform actual vs budget analysis and explain variances.
· Establishes, evaluates, and records obsolescence and inventory reserves, scrap, returns, write-offs, and other financial adjustments in accordance with the Company’s policies.
· Work with cross-departmental functions, including Operations and Sales Operations, to maintain optimal inventory levels.
· Maintain up-to-date process documentation and procedures for inventory transaction flows and coordinate with Internal and external auditors.
· Ensure adequate internal financial controls are in place and functioning as required by the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, including documentation maintenance, spreadsheet controls, etc.
· Oversight and accountability for special projects from inception through to execution.
· Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required
• 3+ years of related experience
• Solid organizational and multi-tasking skills and the ability to manage concurrent responsibilities
• Strong analytical/problem-solving skills with extreme attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently on complex projects while being a collaborative partner. Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships, to influence and partner with business leaders in multiple functional areas
• Strong verbal and written communication skills. Can analyze and synthesize data/information for insights and communicate them in a ‘consumable’ way for decision-making
• High level of PC skills required. The successful candidate must be extremely proficient with Microsoft Excel.
• Make sound business decisions and act with integrity.
• Ability to learn new systems and processes quickly.
• Action-oriented: Demonstrates willingness and ability to be a self-starter, taking the initiative to solve problems and pursue business opportunities.
Preferred Qualifications
• Previous experience in the semiconductor industry or other reverse BOM manufacturing
• Knowledge of Tensoft and Netsuite a plus
• CPA or other local equivalent
• CGMA or other local equivalent
